Ferrite cores are an easy, effective and inexpensive way to reduce conducted and/or radiated emissions by coupling high-frequency resistance into a cable. These cores, also called "chokes" have common applications for keyboards, video or peripheral cables, as well as on power supply cables working in conjunction with external transformer or power supplies. They have little or no impedance at low-frequencies or dc.

TDK P Cores

Applications for Uncoated Toroid Cores

These cores are optimal for use in common mode chokes and broadband, pulse and current transformers. The uniform area of a ferrite toroid eliminates air gaps and creates the ideal desired features for applications that require high magnetic efficiency. Uncoated cores can be coated with various coatings to determine winding ease and voltage breakdown.

Applications for Ferrite E Cores

A less expensive alternative to pot cores, the E core can be mounted in different directions including for low profile mounting. E cores are most commonly used for differential, power and telecom inductors, as well as broadband, power, converter and inverter transformers.
